Because of observing flow-induced structure of micellar solutions in caity flows, flow behaviors of wormlike micellar solution (CTAB/NaSal) passing through a rectangular channel with a cavity were investigated by a polarized-imaging analysis or flow-path line.Several types of molar concentrations (3.0×10−2 mol/L and 6.0×10−2 mol/L) and molar concentration ratio (3.0 and 7.7) were used. Experiments were organized by the same conditions for the Weissenberg number (Wi = 1.0×100, 1.0×101, 1.0×102).For Wi = 1.0×100, phase difference was not confirmed although flows swept into the cavity was occurred. For Wi = 1.0×101, phase difference was generated around corner vortices in the cavity. For Wi = 1.0×102, phase difference and flow-path line was very instable with the elapsed time. It found that flow behaviors of wormlike micellar solution were dependance of molar concentrations, molar concentration ratio, and Weissenberg number. For understanding the experimental results, we discussed elastic properties.
