Abstract

The situation and issues of reconstruction and/or revitalization in the damaged region after the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster at 2011.03.11 and the accident of Fukushima Daiichi NPS are presented in this reports.

At this moment, we have been making considerable efforts to reconstruct and/or revitalize our hometowns and prefecture, however people more than 35,700 are still moved to outside from the damaged hometowns. These crucial issues are considered to be caused on the current special conditions among low population and low economic activity in the regions, uneasiness or anxiety to future; that is, aging population combined with the diminishing number of children, declining in agriculture, declining regional activity in cities, towns and villages due to globalization and shift to finance economy. These historical and regional problems must be solved in taking the reconstruction and/or revitalization procedures for sustainable development to our bright future.

Some issues will be discussed from the viewpoint of regional revitalization, especially focused on the risk communication problem and community-in-community issue, the decommissioning procedure of NPS and collaborative work through Fukushima Innovation Coast Framework to sustainable future in damaged regions.
