Abstract

In order to support the self-learning of the projection method in machine drawing, the authors have been developing the computer assisted instruction system, which presents the three-dimensional (3D) model reflecting mistakes in the handwritten projection drawing provided by learners. Since mistakes in hidden outlines for the projection are sometimes only reflected inside the 3D model, there is a concern that the learners may overlook the unnaturalness of the parts where their mistakes are reflected. In this report, what kind of 3D models are generated depending on the pattern of the mistakes of hidden outlines was examined by some case studies. Then, the usefulness of highlighting the edges of the model by representing solid black lines to ensure that the learners can readily notice the unnaturalness of the model was discussed.
