Abstract
This paper is a study on the development of a sensor for detecting the catheter contact conditions. The sensor is composed of synthetic rubber layers and three strain gauges. The sensor is 12mm across and 15mm in length and mounted on the end of the catheter. The equation relating the sensor output with the contact conditions is formulated by using the three gauge output. The obtained results show the good correspondence of the estimated information with the initial applied condition.
