The present in-depth study investigated causative factors of un-signalized intersection accidents with good visibility. The causative factors of sixteen cases was analyzed from the points of road environment, vehicle condition and driver's recognition. It was shown that driver's recognition and/or detection errors were principal causes of this type of accidents, especially for the drivers approaching on subsidiary road. The relation between recognition/detection performance of peripheral vision and two vehicles' relative position was discussed.
