In the last decade the systematic conceptual design by using computer has been spotlighted, and many studies have been made on systematic conceptual design. Topology Optimization is considered to the one of the most effective methods for design process of mechanical products. However, the result is difficult to apply for design process directly because it has roughly zigzag form. In this paper, the method which transforms zigzag form into refined mechanical form is proposed In this method, the first vertices are reduced based on polygon reduction method. Next, modification rules are applied to refine this mechanical form. The modification rules are summarized by taking the results of questionnaire for many mechanical many testees into considerations.
