This study is concerned with the mean flow and turbulent properties of the three-dimensional turbulent wall jet impinged tangentially on the flat plate. Three components of this flow have been measured by using the triple hot-wire probe and the cross flow was made visible by the tuft grid method. The visualized cross-flow pattern shows the existence of longitudinal vortices swaying with time. The contour maps of the mean velocity components made from the data obtained by using the triple hot wire probe are presented. These maps and the flow visualization show a wide extension of the jet in the spanwise direction. The power spectra of the three components of the fluctuating velocity are also presented.
