Abstract

2D surface was polished by magnetic polishing method using slurry. Slurry is continuously supplied to the particle brush formed by iron powder, in order to improve the polishing efficiency. And, relative motion between the particle brush and the workpiece is generated by oscillatory motion of the workpiece, in order to maintain the edge shape of 2D surface. In this paper, polishing performance of V-groove surface was examined. The results got by this experiment are as follows : (1) It was clarified that shape transfer type magnetic pole was suitable in the partial polishing of V-groove. (2) Flat magnetic pole is suitable, when both of V-groove and plane are polished at one time. (3) It is possible to smooth 2D surface without changing the edge shape.
