A production scheduling algorithm based on a genetic algorithm (GA) has been developed for rationalizing production planning at a PWB assembly factory, and achieving a system for optimizing the capability of the entire factory. Technical features of the developed algorithm include that reduction of solution space by placing adaptability functions at different hierarchical levels, parallel computation using the island model employing multiple computers and increased efficiency of searching the proximity area of the optimum solution. The developed algorithm enables the rapid creation of an optimized production schedule.
