In this paper SH transient response for a linear graded inhomogeneous thick plate is investigated. SH impact subjected to the free surface of the plate is considered. This plate is analyzed by assuming the reflection boundary within the inhomogeneous half-space. In the analysis, the transformation of variable is introduced to use the Cagniard method. The response of the stresses, the displacement and the strain energy for the inhomogeneous plate is derived by using the Cagniard method. The results show the practical aspects of the wave propagation including the reflected wave from the boundary. These are expressed by the contour mappings or 3-D graphs.
