The purpose of this investigation is to develop a practical equation of pressure gain for a tunnel which has an enlarged part in the cross section in which jet fans are placed. In order to derive the equation, the momentum equation and Bernoulli's equation are applied across a tunnel with enlarged cross section. The equation is validated by the results of numerical simulation. Meidinger's equation, which is practically appropriate for a tunnel with uniform cross section, is also compared. As a result, the proposed equation reasonably describes the results of numerical simulation, while Meidinger's equation seems not appropriate for tunnels with partly enlarged cross section.
