In the present study, a hypoid design system has been developed. The system will enable tooth bearing, bending stress at tooth root, and contact stress between tooth flanks to be evaluated. As the first step of the study, the present paper describes geometrical analysis of tooth bearing of a hypoid gear pair. The developed program consists of two parts : calculations of generated tooth flank and tooth bearing. In the calculation of generated tooth flank, Formate cutting method is considered for a gear, and The Gleason 116 generator is considered for a pinion. As a result, using practical machine settings, narrow tooth bearing was obtained on the middle of tooth depth.
