Going with interior noise reduction in a vehicle, gear noise that is of pure frequency has been becoming a great influence on the comfortable driving. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the physical mechanism of each resonance peak by actual measurement. In this research, a helical gearing apparatus is developed to measure the radiated noise and the 3-dimentional vibration of gear pair. As the result, the transverse, axial, rotational, and tilting vibration of helical gear are detected. Especially, some new interesting transverse vibration behaviors, e.g., the drive and driven gears vibrate simultaneously or individually with three different modes, are found.
