A numerical methodology of evaluating the Eshelby stress and its related equations is proposed by use of the mixed-hybrid finite element method. The canonical form of the linear momentum is derived in material space and the physical motivation is discussed in terms of some examples in solid mechanics. A simple element so-called P1b-P1 formulation is adopted in order to evaluate the stress and strain at nodes. The numerical algorithm is established such that the residual of the canonical momentum can be numerically estimated.
