Abstract
The viscosesl, in which sealant filled in the clearance between screw shaft and the housing is pressurized by screw pump effect, is a kind of non-contact seal. Some theories of their sealing performance both in laminar and in turbulent region have been proposed. But most experimental results of sealing performance are inferior to theoretical ones. Experiments and simulation on pressure distribution of the viscoseal are performed. Also, effects of screw shaft inclination on their performance are discussed.
