Abstract
Ultrasonic linear array transducer has the advantage of receiving flaw echoes simultaneously at various points on a flat surface of the specimen. We here develop new inverse scattering methods for the imaging of flaw shapes using the array transducer. In this study, an algorithm of synthetic aperture focusing technique is combined with the linearized inverse scattering methods to reconstruct flaw shape functions. Since these methods are performed by means of 2-D FFT, high-speed imaging of flaw shapes is possible with a portable computer. In numerical simulations, the imaging results show the appropriate shape and location of internal flaws.
