Abstract
A new tripod constant velocity joint is presented whose cylindrical rollers are sphere・cylinder-paired to spherical ends of the spider and are cylinder-paired to sides of grooves of the housing. The tripod CVJ which composes the drive line of automobiles together with the drive shaft and the Rzeppa CVJ is the spatial mechanism of one degree of freedom. The three closed loop equations with respect to three cylindrical rollers, the spider of three spherical ends and the housing are deduced. They are solved for prescribed angles of the output shaft and characteristics of relative motion of components are made clear.
