Abstract
"Jerk" is derivative of acceleration. Effective and simple sensors to measure jerk directly are very few. Therefore, in order to use jerk signal to control object motion, value of jerk is often estimated from output of accelerometer. Ajerk sensor proposed in this paper is a very simple new seizmo type piezoelectric sensor. The paper describes principle of measurement and shows effectiveness of the principle experimentally. As a result, amplitude of the sensor output shows very good linearity to jerk. Phase characteristics between the sensor signal and jerk also shows good performance within some frequency range which is dependent on sensor properties. An example to use information of jerk is also shown.
