In recent years, the technical development and basic research on the reentry vehicles have been carried out actively. In order to develop the thermal protection system for the reentry vehicles, it is important to establish a method of material and structure component tests under high heat flux conditions. So, application of a new thermal structure testing system using high power laser-diode as a heat source is expectable. The new system consists of a laser-diode heating equipment and a couple of galvanometer scanner mirrors, and, by controlling the movement of scanner mirrors, the laser beam is expanded to the desired heating area. In this research, the heating test of the new system and the numerical analyses by finite element method corresponding to the experiments are carried out. Through the comparison of those results, the control method of the scanner for giving the uniform and non-uniform variational heating rates on the heating area is studied.
