3326 Agile attitude control of small satellites with control moment gyro system

This paper investigates the feasibility of using control moment gyros (CMGs) as the actuator for agile attitude maneuvers of a small satellite. A prototype of miniature sized single-gimbal control moment gyro (SGCMG) has been developed in the laboratory. A cluster of four prototype SGCMGs has been investigated by numerical simulations for full-three-axes attitude control of a CUBESAT class micro-satellite.
