Abstract
Hemoglobin (Hb) vesicles may be used for improving perfusion in vascular-diseased regions because of its high oxygen carrying capacity and its infinitesimal diameter. To examine the behavior of Hb vesicles at microvascular bifurcations, the numerical simulations of the blood flow with Hb vesicles were conducted by using the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). As the flow through the simplified model at microvascular bifurcations, we considered two dimensional Y-bifurcation and investigated the distributions of neutrally buoyant circle particles. The simulation results show that the variation of hematocrit leads to the difference between the fractional particle flux and the fractional bulk flow.
