To prevent hip fracture among the elderly, it is important to develop an accurate fall simulation model. In this study we developed a hybrid type simulation model which consists of a detailed finite element model of thigh and hip joint, and multibody model of other parts of whole human body. The hybrid model could reconstruct the most of the results of fall simulations conducted by the multibody model of whole human body in the previous study. The results of the simulations showed that a lateral fall caused a high stress concentration at the superior basicervical region while a frontal fall caused that at the inferior basicervical region. The maximum fracture risk was observed in cases of lateral falls grounded at hip caused by faint.
