Abstract

This paper develops the numerical model of a catenary-cable by using finite segment formulation and deals with the dynamic stability and numerical simulation of catenary-cable subjected to periodic excitation. The dynamic behavior of the catenary-cable subjected to the periodic excitation is examined by the numerical simulations and experiments. The validity of the presented analytical model is verified by the experiments. As a result, it is found that the numerical simulations are in good agreement with the experimental ones.
