Abstract

We present a new geometric approach to constraint stabilization of holonomic constrained mechanical systems. We demonstrate how the proposed constraint stabilization method for the case of index 2 can be constructed based on geometric properties and we also illustrate the validity of the proposed approach by comparing with GGL and Baumgarte methods in numerical simulations.
