Abstract
It is very important to know the relation between initially set up tension and running state tensions at each span in designing of belt drive systems. Now the equation T_t+T_s≅2T_0 for two axis system in which T_t, T_s and T_0 are tight side tension, slack side tension and initially set up tension is well known, but the ground is not so clear. In this study general equations relating those tensions are derived theoretically using Hook's law at first, and then the condition in which the above equation for two axis system holds is made clear. Finally validity of the general equation is verified by an experiment.
