Abstract
Journal bearings have sometimes been driven under the starved lubrication condition. Starved lubrication decreases the performance of journal bearings. Therefore, the starved lubrication and also the oil supply volume should be considered when journal bearings are designed. In the first report, the oil pressure region on two dimensions was calculated by FDM and FEM. However, the calculation by FDM must be assumed the oil film boundary as one or two straight lines and the calculation by FEM had taken a large time to solve the free boundary of the oil pressure region. In this report, easy analysis using successive modified iterative FDM was developed and the free boundary of the oil pressure region was calculated.
