Abstract

In order to improve a fuel economy or acceleration performance, the weight of vehicle must decrease do one of effective way. It invite the decrease vehicle body stiffness that affects on driving performance of the vehicles. Therefore, it is an important issue to investigate the relation between body stiffness and driving performance of vehicles. According to this, a road simulator utilizing a belt conveyer and an experimental vehicle with variable body stiffness are built to perform experimental research. The stiffness of vehicle body is varied by changing a body part. The behavior of the vehicle is measured by sensors, while the vehicle runs on the road simulator. By comparing the behaviors with different body stiffness, the relation between body stiffness and driving performance of the vehicle can be identified.
