Abstract
This paper develops a numerical model of catenary cable structures by using finite segment method, and deals with numerical simulations of dynamic behavior and stability of the catenary cable structures subjected to periodic excitation in horizontal direction. The dynamic behavior of the catenary cable structures subjected to the periodic excitation is examined by the numerical simulations and experiments. The calculation results of the numerical model are verified by the experiments. The numerical simulations are in good agreement with the experimental ones about the resonance frequency, vibration amplitude and vibration mode shape.
