Abstract
This paper deles with numerical simulations and experiments of the catenary cable structures subjected to the periodic excitation in vertical direction. The dynamic stability and vibration characteristics of are examined by the numerical simulations and experiments. The calculation results of the numerical model presented in this paper are verified by the experiments. It is found that parametric vibration occurs to the catenary cable structure due to the periodic vertical excitation. The numerical simulations are in good agreement with the experimental ones about the instability regions and vibration amplitude.
