Abstract
This paper described the KBE system that supports a design and a development of the HDD. This system attempts shortening the product development period by reusing the design development information stored by the same design section or the relating section. This system collects necessary indices for the retrieval from a lot of design information databases scattered in world wide, and these databases are virtually integrated like sole database. As a result, designers can promptly acquire necessary knowledge.
