Abstract
Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloy (SMA) was fabricated by metal injection molding method using elemental and MA powders. The fabrication conditions were investigated to fabricate superior SMA by this method. The influences of powder characteristics on the mechanical properties and shape memory properties of the sintered compacts were also investigated. The relative density of the sintered compacts of both powders were similar. Tensile strength and elongation of the sintered compacts of elemental powder were approximately 60MPa and 3.4%, respectively. The shape memory treated compacts of both powders showed the shape memory effect, but the transformation temperatures were influenced by the powder characteristics.
