A three dimensional finite element code for the transient combined radiation-conduction analysis is developed based on the one dimensional program established in the authors' previous study. Also conducted was an experiment with ceramic tile insulation for atmospheric reentry vehicle. The corresponding numerical simulations have been done with the developed code and with the conventional code for comparisons. It is shown that the agreements with the experimental data are not good enough for both methods but the behavior of rapid temperature rising is well reproduced by the present code which cannot be predicted by the conventional conduction analysis.
