It is said that excretion care is one of the heaviest load for care givers. Especially, holding an elderly person in their arms to let him/her transfer from a wheelchair to a toilet seat inflicts a serious burden on a care giver's body. In this paper, we introduce R & D of a toilet seat capable of lifting which is expected to decrease care givers' physical load. In the study, we conducted experiments testing the operation methods for easy-to-use lifting functionality. Moreover, we also evaluated by use of bio-instrumentation the reduction degree of the muscle load of both care givers and the elderly, replacing them with mimicking subjects.
