We studied the effects of the swirl component on the ventilation flow in a tunnel. The spread and the interaction of the jets were experimentally investigated using a tunnel model with the jet fans. PIV measurements were carried out using a CCD camera and a pulse laser, and the velocity distributions in the tunnel were measured. Numerical analysis was performed for the same conditions as the model tunnel and the real scale tunnel. The results of the experiments and the numerical analysis were compared and the validity of the numerical analysis was confirmed. The influence of the swirl direction to the tunnel flow was investigated based on the numerical analysis for the real scale tunnel.
