In this study, influence of the grip length of a bolt/nut assembly on fatigue characteristics under transverse vibration has been investigated based on the result of the fatigue test for bolted joints. Fatigue limits of the bolted joints was also estimated. The results showed that the actual fatigue limits are almost the same although the apparent transverse fatigue limits vary according to the tightening situation. It was considered that the apparent transverse fatigue limit of the bolt/nut assembly decreases with an increase in the grip length.
