Abstract
The effect of forging on flexural strength, fracture toughness and fatigue crack propagation (FCP) in martensitic-matrix cast iron was investigated. Forging could not eliminate casting defects effectively and was detrimental to flexural strength. Forging exerted little influence on fracture toughness and FCP behavior, while reduced the scatter in fracture toughness.
