Estimation method of three dimensional position of body-mounted sensor (3D sensor) for the measure of the 3D movement during sports and daily life is discussed. The position of the 3D sensor is expressed as the 3D location of rotational center of shoulder joint on the moving coordinate system based on the 3D sensor. To develop the algorithm, measured data affecting the estimated position and cut-off frequency of a low pass ifiter to minimize the error of the estimated position are numerically obtained. Moreover effective movement of the arm performed by the subject is determined. Experiments to estimate the relation between the center of shoulder joint and position of the 3D sensor are performed using optical motion capture system to anatomically determine the center of shoulder joint for three subjects and results show that the error of estimated distance between the shoulder joint and the 3D sensor is about 1%.
