A laser 2-focus velocimeter (L2F) was used for measurements of velocity and size of droplets in diesel sprays. The diameter of the nozzle orifice was 0.113 mm and the pressure in common rail was 40 and 80 MPa. The measuring points were located at 3 to 25 mm from the nozzle exit. It was shown that the droplet breakup was observed under the lower injection rate and the droplet coalescence was observed under the higher injection rate. The correlation between the velocity and the size of droplets was found to be the same in both cases with the higher injection rate and the lower injection rate.
