Abstract

High strength Magnesium alloy bolt by using wrought 9Al-Zn-2Ca alloy was developed for the purpose of fastening the Magnesium parts used in the transportation industry. In the application of vehicles, both fatigue and loosening properties of the bolt are critical due to the vibration loading subjected to the bolts. In this study, we focused on the loosening properties of Mg bolt after its fatigue test in comparison with ordinal steel bolt. The experimental results reveal Mg bolt has higher resistance against bolt loosening than ordinal steels, which is also supported by theoretical review.
