Abstract

Taper nuts , spherical nuts and flange nuts are using for automotive wheels. However, it is considered that the nut configuration has a great influence on mechanical characteristic of the bolted joint. The influence of the nut configuration on the mechanical characteristics of its bolted joint was not investigated so far. Hence, influence of the nut configuration on transverse fatigue strength has been investigated in this study. In the experiment, transverse fatigue tests were performed using taper nuts and flange nuts. The results showed that apparent fatigue strength of the bolted joint with the taper nut was lower than that of the bolted joint with the flange nut.
