This paper concerns two new dam construction methods, the full face excavation method and the concrete method using bulldozer-mounted vibrators. We explain why these two methods were speedily transferred among Japan's electric power companies and general contractors. It appears that professional communication among 1936 graduates of Tokyo university civil engineering department probably promoted the technology transfer.
