F-0312 Cutting of Concave Conical Gear with Gear Shaper

Abstract

Concave conical gear can be cut with gear shaper. The tooth surface generated by this cutting method is different from the tooth surface of the conical involute gear. In this paper first, the theoretical profile of tooth surfaces is obtained. Secondly, principal radii are expressed in terms of basic dimensions of test gear and pinion-type putter. Finally, the tooth surfaces of the gear made for trial are compared with the theoretical tooth surfaces.
