Abstract
In this paper, the melting and freezing behaviors of water in unsaturated packed beds have been investigated theoretically. In order to clarify phenomena of melting and freezing in unsaturated packed beds, the one dimensional melting model taking into account the infiltration and refreezing of melting water has been presented. The predicted results, for example, melting front, infiltration front, the water and ice contents and temperature, were compared with the experimental results used glass beads obtained previous study.
