Abstract
An inverted pendulum is unstable system and a feedback control is usually adopted in order to stabilize the system. On the other hand, there is another stabilization method by high frequency excitation. This is very interesting because no feedback control is needed. However the method has not been systematically analyzed and the nonlinear characteristics have not been sufficiently discussed. In this paper, the stabilization method by vertical high frequency excitation is theoretically analyzed. The theoretically obtained nonlinear characteristics are compared with experimental ones.
