Abstract
This paper describes opinion how to apply intellectual property to the development of code and standards. Japanese enterprises have been grown by eager utilization of patents which have been originally introduced from America or Europe. However, this strategy should be changed because intellectual property should be reflected as international standards to be de-facto standard. JSME organized code and standards committee to develop systematic domestic codes to harmonize with foreign code and standards.
