Abstract
The microdrive, 10 inch HDD compatible to compact flash type2,has been the smallest HDD in the world and epoch-making product, which opened new HDD application area like digital camera, PDA, etc. Since 1999,mass production has been carried out in newly developed manufacturing line in Thailand. Many of technical challenges had been overcome to establish microdrive dedicated manufacturing line. For example, in order to minimize manufacturing operator dependency and equipment cost, we adopted so-called mechanized concept that was neither automation line nor manual line.
