A slim-type actuator mounted in notebook PCs is newly developed, which can make compensation for the radial inclination of optical disk. The proposed actuator adopts the moving magnet method for its tilt function but does the moving coil method for the other actuations, focusing and tracking. In order to find the optimal design for dynamic characteristics, we conduct some meaningful experiments and numerical simulations. The fabricated actuators following these guidelines show good tilt compensating ability and dynamic performances.
