Abstract
In order to examine molecular gas film lubrication (MGL)^[1] characteristics for spacings of several nanometers, the free mo lecular MGL equation, which involves the Poiseuille flow rate and the shear stress coefficient for the free molecular flow region and takes surface assommodation effects into account, is established, The usefulness of the free molecular MGL equation is shown by calculating the basic characteristics of flying head sliders using disk and slider assommodation coefficients, α_0 and α_1,as a parameter.
