An energy harvester with battery charging circuitry, which collects wasted kinetic energy from a disk drive's rotary actuator seek operations, is proposed and presented in this paper. Depending on a disk drive's form factor and seek format, it is suggested by the present study that harvested energy can be optimized by tuning the harvester's natural frequencies to major frequency content occurs in disk drive's VMC current. The harvested energy has implication in energy saving in usage for other applications in computer disk drives.
