Giga-cycle fatigue behavior of the powdered high speed steel,HAP72 with Rockwell C scale hardness number of 67 is mainly investigated. Influence of the surface roughness and heat treatment on gigacycle fatigue strength of the HAP72 is mainly presented. Fatigue crack initiation behavior of the HAP72 is discussed with respect to fracture surface morphology.
